TIMING GEARS;  Have wide face, and are made,

              Pinions of Case Hardened  B.H.P,  "kase-hard,

              and gears of drop forged steel, making an

              excellent combination.


      AIR CLEANERS; A large capacity oil-wetted Air

             Cleaner is fitted as standard to each cylinder head

              cover.


      VALVES ; The valves are of special silchrome forged

               steel, heat treated, and are suitable for

               withstanding high temperatures.


     MAIN BEARINGS; Are provided between each

             crankpin in addition to the extra-large bearing

             each end and are made of special heavy bronze

             lined with white metal, which is the ideal bearing

             for use in compression ignition engines. Ample

     

CYLINDER LINERS;  Special quality cast iron

             centrifugally cast, accurately ground, honed and

              mirror finished to size.  They can be easily

             removed from  the crankcase.  Cooling water

             comes in actual contact with the liners. 

             Experience over many years has proved  that the

              material in these liners give superior performance

             to any other.


      CYLINDER HEADS; Are of special cast iron,  with

              cored ports for air intake and exhaust.  The valve

              and valve operating mechanism are totally

              enclosed, and are lubricated by oil mist  and

              external ball oilers.  The heads are fitted with

             Special valve seat insert which  are diamond hard,

              with the result that valve grinding   is rarely

              necessary the SOUTHERN CROSS  COMBUS

              TION CHAMBER ensures an efficient  mixture

              and even steady running throughout the speed

              range with a clear exhaust.  Large covers are

              fitted for  inspection and cleaning of water jacket


     CONNECTIONG RODS;   Made of 40 tons textile

               heat  treated steel.   Accurate counter balance

               weights ensure almost  vibrationless running

               at all speeds within the  speed  range.  All

               bearing surfaces are accurately  ground to

               size


     PISTONS Of special "Hisil" aluminium alloy,

              Which has  proved in experience and practical

              superior to all other   types of pistons.  The

              piston is made extra  long and  is fitted with

               three (3) compression rings and two (2)

              oil rings to ensure complete gas tightness.,


    GUDGEON PINS;  Extra large diameter fully

              floating pins accurately lopped to size


     FLYWHEEL;  Solid disc, cast iron of large diameter

              and  heavy section, ensuring steady running.
