31001 Engine number - year 1949 Type AXC Restored Devon - in Victoria 31059 Engine number - year 1948 Type AXC 31071 Engine number - year 1948 Type AXCY Sydney NSW Crank shaft turns OK and the engine looks reasonably clean. When I pulled the covers off it looks like the engine had run out of oil, and melted the white metal bearing. Connecting rod has loosened up enough on crank to give sufficient free play for the end cap to collect on the crank and rip it off. Piston has fallen down and as the crank has turned it's collected the connecting rod and smashed the bottom of the piston up to the pin. Able to save compression rings though. Picked this up on ebay in 2006 from Griffith. The guy had bought it to restore with his kids but decided not to and sell instead. Sold this and engine 30942 together with a centrifugal irrigation pump. 31347 Engine number - year 1948 Type YB given to me.
